The target disk flowmeters are a very suitable solution in those applications that have changing working conditions. Find out our DP series.
The target disk flowmeters are flowmeters for liquids and, under certain conditions, for gases.
Throughout history, flowmeters have been and are one of the most important instruments in the development of the industry and, although new technologies have emerged, most of the different types of flowmeters are still being used after their evolution, to meet the requirements of the new applications that have been appearing.
Most common applications of target disk flowmeters
Applicable in all types of industrial processes, the target disk flowmeters are widely used in water treatment and distribution, pharmaceutical industry, chemical and paper mills, heating and cooling circuits, pool water, fire protection systems, car industry, power plants, lubrication circuits… these are purely mechanical devices that can work under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature.

Working principle
Target disk flowmeters are based on the indirect measurement of the force which is exerted on a disk suspended in the trajectory where a fluid flows at a certain speed.
The disc is held by a shaft which is perpendicular to the fluid direction, so that the force applied by it affects the shaft rotation. At the same time, a spring attached to the shaft is opposed to its turn. When the force applied on the spring is equal to the force exerted by the fluid, an equilibrium point of the turn angle of the disk, which is equivalent to a flow rate, is achieved.

Working principle
The flow reading is made by means of magnetic coupling with the housing indication system, thus avoiding fluid leakage to it.

The target disk flowmeters are a very suitable solution in those applications that have changing working conditions, such as pressure or temperature, and when a complete knowledge of all the parameters of the application is not available. They are particularly suitable for measuring fluids with a certain amount of suspended particles and besides poorly sensitive to changes in density and viscosity of said fluids in large DNs.

DP series can be manufactured in different metallic materials and for a great variety of pipe sizes being suitable for any sense of flow, either vertical or horizontal. Low maintenance and long life complete an instrument that can be defined as “an all-terrain vehicle”.

Options for potentially explosive atmospheres
Tecfluid DP series target disk flowmeters have different switches and transmitters to be installed, as transmitters for potentially explosive atmospheres.
The Tecfluid DP series can fit a transmitter and / or a totalizer, called TH7, in case the application or the user requires it so, and also switches for flow detection / alarm. Both transmitters and switches can be certified ATEX, which makes possible to install this flowmeter in areas where there are potentially explosive atmospheres.

TH7 transmitter
The TH7 Ex transmitter can be supplied with certification to be installed in potentially explosive atmospheres. They are intrinsically safe devices with Ex ia IIC T4 or T6 protection and can incorporate HART ™ protocol on demand.

With an accuracy of ± 2,5% f.s. DP series target disk flowmeters are very versatile, widely used in a wide variety of applications and industrial sectors. They represent a reliable and effective solution in processes where the operating conditions cannot be defined completely.
