Tecfluid donates a flowmeter to MA Center Spain Foundation

The instrument, a PS series plastic tube variable area flowmeter, will be used to measure the irrigation water of a field of olive trees for solidary production of olive oil.

Tecfluid have collaborated with a solidarity project of the MA Center Spain Foundation, dedicated to improving the quality of life of the population without resources from anywhere in the world. This non-profit organization is part of a global project, called “Embracing the world” and founded by humanitarian and spiritual leader Sri Mata Amritanandamayi, known worldwide as Amma.

In this article we invite you to learn about the MA Center Spain Foundation from the hand of Ânand, coordinator of the center, who offered us a guided tour of the Amma Center of Can Creixell:

You work in a paradisiacal environment in the middle of nature, is this part of the philosophy of the center?

 – By the time this center was opened I was living in India and people who collaborated with Amma in Spain presented dozens of places to locate the center in this country. Amma always said no. It was in Boston, during the penultimate stage of a tour for the US, Canada and Japan, when they presented this option and she said yes. No one could believe it. It was really her decision and I do not know the reasons why she chose this place, but I am happy to be able to serve Amma’s Humanitarian Work and enjoy this environment.

Which is the task of the Foundation in Can Creixell?

 – We receive all kind of donations, monetary or in kind, and collaborate with local shelters supplying food and other basic necessities.

We practice spiritual, meditation or yoga courses to encourage the connection with yourself, with others and to live in harmony with nature. Some of these courses have a minimum cost to cover material and posting of teachers. All the funds that we obtain are directed to the social and humanitarian work of the NGO Embracing the world.

What profiles of people are part of the Center?

 – How many profiles of people do you think there are in the world? All of them come here. Young people predominate but the age of the body is not important. The most important thing is the attitude of life and how you feel.

What is the role of olive-growing and harvesting for the foundation? Is it a task you do each year? Where can we get the oil?

 – Yes, it is a task that must be carried out every year and done by volunteer people. Not only in the olive harvesting but also in the pruning of the olive trees and other multiple activities necessary for the operation of the center.

We try to get the best harvest to obtain the largest number of liters of oil possible and thus generate much of the benefit for the Humanitarian Work. This year there has not been a big harvest but the years when there is more olive production and we do not have capacity to sell here all the oil produced, we send it to the European cities where Amma realizes the annual tour and we sell it there.

Do you take advantage of other natural resources in your environment?

 – Yes, absolutely all we can and a little more. We also have a garden from which we obtain many of the ingredients for our own consumption and cultivate plants with medicinal benefits like the Tulasi. In addition we also have some honeycombs and sell the honey that we get.

How has the Tecfluid flowmeter benefited you?

 – We noticed that there was a leak somewhere in the water circuit between the filter and the tank we have. This water is used to water our fields of olive trees. We placed the flowmeter at the entrance of the water line of the filter to compare the flow that entered the filter with the water that was being consumed and thus try to locate that leak.

With these measurements we could prove that the loss of water was occurring in the filter itself.

How did you get to know our company?

 – In fact I did not do the management, but a volunteer who helped us at that time and found Tecfluid on the internet. Normally when we have a need we try to contact a company that wants to help us. There are suppliers that usually work with us.

In general, are companies willing to collaborate or make donations for your projects? What kind of companies do you usually collaborate with?

 – There is a bit of everything, we find more “yes” than “no” but we respect everyone. We practice the “zero cost policy“, but this does not mean that it is always a zero cost for the Foundation, sometimes articles of a high amount are needed and the supplier can get to a maximum of not generating benefits. That is then our zero cost.

Usually they are companies of all type. The companies are made up of people and obviously always help that you can get to touch the sensitivity of the person you meet, who understands the reason of your request, so that you can transfer it to the manager or owner, who is the one who usually makes the decision.

What outstanding projects do you plan for 2017?

 – Many, but above all we sincerely hope that the Generalitat and the city council will approve the license to expand this place so that more people can benefit from an Amma Center in this country.

Any experience of the last months that you would like to share with us?

 – I try to live the present moment and it is difficult for me to remember everything that we live in a year but the most important is what happens every day. The last months have had to be good because I feel happy and I do not remember anything especially negative.
